As a consumer or purchaser of goods and products, what protection do I have under the law?

As a consumer in Tennessee, you are afforded greater protection that many other states.  Tennessee has a Law called the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) which prohibits companies from engaging in unfair and/or deceptive acts and practices.  If a company’s actions are determined to be willful and knowingly deceptive, then a consumer may be entitled to up to three times (3x) the amount of damages incurred.  The TCPA may also allow a consumer to recover attorneys’ fees, which generally are not recoverable.
